Sometimes you need a staycation, not a vacation

October 8th, 2011 · No Comments · Life

This next week, I’m on staycation. I won’t vacate my home and town and whisk my family off to some exotic locale or Disneyland. We’re staying put. We’ll probably not drive any further than 30 minutes on a given day, and some days not even that.

Vacations are exhausting. Fun, but exhausting. And expensive. Since I’m not rich, I can’t afford a megabucks spa retreat in the Carribean, or wherever those places are. Even if I was rich, I’d probably want to stay home.

Sometimes you need time to work on your personal goals. This staycation I aim to:

-Write
-Read
-Go for a leisurely walk each day
-Nap
-Spend time with family
-Eat wholesome, delicious food prepared at home without feeling rushed

Sounds pretty sweet to me. Believe me, I feel blessed to have the ability to take this time off. I recognize that so many people do not have the luxury.

What would you do if you had the luxury to go on a staycation right now?
