Farmers’ Market

April 19th, 2011 · 1 Comment · Life

I love the atmosphere of a farmers’ market. Our town recently started having them on Tuesday nights. Right now, it’s tiny compared with others like my favorite one in Monterey, but it’s still something special.

A brief visit tonight, and we came away with tangerines, tomatoes, cucumbers, a basket of lima beans, and a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread. Simple, good stuff.

Aside from having good quality food, I do appreciate being able to support local farmers. I’m not a locavore, because I’m not interested in limiting myself only to what’s local, but I still try to get local food where I can. They always seem to appreciate every dollar.

I recommend going, especially when the sun has gone down, and the streetlights shine over the produce. Something is great about the atmosphere at that time, and I feel at peace.

They really do appreciate every dollar! Thank you for supporting them! Lucky you can get tomatoes so early in the season!
